Goose Island Nut Brown Ale

Brewmasters Notes:Brewed in the English tradition, our Nut Brown Ale combines the finest domestic and imported malts to produce a chestnut-hued ale of unusual complexity. Subtle notes of chocolate, honey and fine tobacco give this ale an enjoyable and satisfying “nutty” finish.

Recipe Information:

Style: English Style Brown Ale

Alcohol by Volume: 5.3%
International Bitterness Units: 25
Color: Chocolate
Hops: UK Fuggle, Willamette
Malts: 2 Row, Caramel, Wheat, Dark Chocolate, Victory:

Appearance: Pours dark brown, not much light getting through. Head is light brown and three fingers. Some lacing.

Aroma: A nice amount of cocoa, sweet chocolate and roasted malts; along with some nuttiness. Yum!

Taste: Tastes very similar to the smell. Roasty and nutty with just a moderate amount of chocolate. Has a caramel sweetness to it that lasts in the aftertaste.

Mouthfeel: This one is smooth and silky. More towards the low end of medium mouthfeel.

Drinkability/Overall: A great, sessionable brown ale. I could see myself knocking back a few of these on a night that I’m in the mood for a roasty session beer. 8/10
